Professional Experience

Henry Tan, Group CEO and Chief Innovation Officer of CLA Global TS, has been serving as an advisor to clients in Singapore and across the region. As Group CEO, he oversees the firm’s operations and drives the growth of its footprint into a major player in Singapore and the regional markets in which the firm operates. Henry has been assisting companies, particularly entrepreneurs, since 1993 in growing their businesses in Asia through IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, accounting, and other advisory services. He has extensive experience in the China market and also sits on the boards of several listed companies.

He is Lay member of Singapore Dental Council Complaints Panel and Council Member of Institute of Valuers and Appraisers Singapore (IVAS).

He is an ASEAN CPA, fellow of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA), Institute of Insolvency Practitioners of Singapore (FIPAS), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand and Chartered Valuer And Appraiser (CVA). He is also a member of Mensa, the Singapore Chartered Tax Professionals (SCTP), Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and Singapore Institute of Directors (SID) and ISCA Financial Forensic Professional (ISCA FFP) Credential. He is an Approved Liquidator registered with the Accounting & Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) and a licensed Insolvency Practitioner by Ministry of Law.

 

Education

Henry was from Anglo Chinese School and Anglo Chinese Junior College. In 1988, Henry graduated from Nanyang Business School with a Bachelor of Accountancy. As a notable alumnus, Henry served as Chairman of the Nanyang Business School (NBS) Alumni Advisory Board from 2014 to 2020 and played an instrumental role in strengthening ties between graduates and the school. Under his stewardship, the board also supported the launch of the Equal Opportunity Fund in 2019, which funds overseas internships and exchange programmes for underprivileged students. In 2021, Henry was conferred the Nanyang Distinguished Alumni Award, the highest honour bestowed upon the alumni of Nanyang Technological University.

 

Other Professional Experiences

  • Assisted number of entrepreneurs to grow their business to an IPO in Singapore, London and Hong Kong Exchange.
  • Advisory to German company expansion into 7 countries in Asia
  • Advisory to a top Chinese shoe retailer and fund raising through private equity and then subsequently IPO
  • Taxation advisory to companies entering into Singapore and Chinese market in respect of structuring of business.
  • Restructuring advisory to number of Chinese companies for doing business and fund rising outside China.
