Michael brings more than 25 years of experience across Malaysia and the United Kingdom, advising Boards, Audit Committees and senior executives on governance, enterprise risk management, internal audit transformation, regulatory remediation and control optimisation in complex and highly regulated organisations.
Michael is a Chartered Accountant, Fellow of CPA Australia and holds a Bachelor or Commerce (Accounting & Finance) from the University of Melbourne. He has held senior leadership, advisory and consulting roles across global financial institutions, professional services firms and technology companies. Prior to joining CLA, he spent almost two decades in London, working with organisations including Bank of America, HSBC, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse, Lloyds Banking Group and Royal Bank of Scotland.
Michael specialises in internal audit transformation, enterprise risk management (ERM), Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), governance reviews, audit quality assurance, regulatory remediation and control optimisation. He has established internal audit and risk management functions from the ground up, designed governance and control frameworks, led large-scale transformation initiatives and advised organisations undergoing significant business and regulatory change.
His experience extends beyond financial services to health-tech, healthcare, manufacturing, hotels and resorts, telecommunications, food production, plantations, property, construction and transport. By combining international best practices with pragmatic commercial insight, Michael helps organisations strengthen governance, build resilient businesses and deliver practical and effective solutions that support sustainable growth, better decision-making and long-term business success.
Beyond his professional work, Michael enjoys martial arts and tennis, and is passionate about mentoring and supporting young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. He enjoys helping them develop practical skills, build confidence and pursue meaningful careers, believing that education, practical skills and meaningful employment can create transformative
opportunities for them and their families.
At CLA Global TS’s Malaysia office, Michael will lead the firm’s Governance, Risk & Internal Audit practice, helping clients strengthen governance frameworks, enhance risk oversight and improve organisational resilience.
