Professional Experience
Daniel has more than 28 years of professional experience in Malaysian and international taxation, having held senior leadership appointments with leading Big Four and international accounting firms. Throughout his career, he has advised multinational corporations, government-linked companies, publicly listed companies, family-owned enterprises, privately owned businesses and high-net-worth individuals on a broad range of Malaysian and cross-border taxation matters.
His areas of expertise include international tax advisory, corporate tax advisory, transactions tax, tax controversy, tax incentives, Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Real Property Gains Tax (RPGT) and global mobility services. He has extensive experience advising clients across a broad spectrum of industries, including oil and gas, manufacturing, telecommunications, property development, construction, plantation, trading, consumer products and services.
In addition to professional practice, Daniel has made significant contributions to the tax profession through technical leadership, professional examining and executive education. He served as Chief Examiner (Advanced Taxation) of the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (2017–2024), was a member of the Institute’s Technical Committee on Direct Taxation and previously headed the Tax Review Panel responsible for overseeing the CTIM/MIA/CPA Annual Budget Publication on corporate taxation and petroleum income tax developments. He is also a regular speaker at professional conferences, seminars, webinars and continuing professional development programmes in Malaysia and internationally.
As Director, Tax, Daniel leads the Malaysia Tax Practice, working closely with clients and colleagues to deliver practical, commercially focused tax solutions and support cross-border business activities. His objective is to establish and develop a high-quality tax practice that provides trusted tax advisory services and long-term value to clients.
